is it safe to drink from vintage glassware-pureglassware

When leaded crystal cups are exposed to acidic beverages, the lead precipitated can exceed the standard by 200 times. Uranium glass has low radioactivity. In addition, fine cracks are prone to breeding bacteria, and the gold plating on the cup mouth may fall off.

Safe use method

• Transparent undecorated glass (such as old-fashioned jam jars): can be used to hold cold water or for a short time (<2 hours), and must be professionally tested for lead.

• Leaded crystal cups: Do not contact any beverages, only for decoration.

• Painted cups on the outer wall: Only dry items or cold water can be held (liquids do not contact the painted layer).

• Uranium glass: Avoid holding acidic liquids.

Absolutely prohibited: hot drinks (>60℃ accelerates the release of toxins), dishwasher cleaning, and use by infants and young children.

Solutions

1. Safety modification: Add a food-grade glass liner

2. Change of use: Change to candlesticks/vases

3. Product replacement: Choose lead-free crystal cups marked "lead-free crystal"
